    Blood in stool

    Hey guys,

Really freaking out right now. I’ve been having some constipation for a few days. Tonight I really felt like I had to go but again, it felt like my stools were too hard and only a little bit came out. Then when I wiped the toilet paper was bright red.
About 10 minutes later I had to go again. This time everything came out pretty smoothly and the weird thing, there was no more blood at all! Not even a dot on the toilet paper.
I thought maybe an anal fissure, but wouldn’t I still see blood the second time? I suffer from constipation and hard stools a lot and have never seen blood. But I have no stomach pain or cramps or any other symptoms.
    Any advice would be appreciated!

Sounds like piles and/or a fissure. If the second stool came out smoothly it probably didn’t irritate the area.

Try and ease your constipation with more fibre and fluids. Straining to pass stools should be avoided where possible

    Thank you!
95% of me believes that. But I’m 5% very anxious it’s something worse.
I’m just going to take some stool softener and if I don’t see anymore blood for the next few times I’ll feel better

And if you do talk to your doctor. Not sure how old you are but if over 45 then should be doing a colonoscopy anyways. Its not that bad.

Sounds like me the other month, and that was a fissure.

That said, it was a first time bleed for me so I got this checked out by my GP. Common sense, right?

What are you doing about your constipation?

I’m 39, but if it happens again I’ll definitely ask for one

Well I’d been on vacation for a month and ate a lot of junk food and drank alcohol which I think caused it to be so bad.
I’m home since today so definitely back on water all day and fiber rich foods
