Hi, does anyone here self-medicate their IBS with Imodium. Would love to hear peoples experiences regarding this.

It is fine short term but NOT long term.

Yeah, I do use it sometimes, it works well for me, really helps to shorten the flare ups. I usually one take two or three pills throughout the day for a few days until the worst of the flare up settles. My doctor told me that as long as I don't exceed the daily max dose and don't get myself constipated I can use it whenever I need to, but she knows my history and how often I get flare ups, so I'm not sure if it would be OK to take chronically. Every now and then it should be fine as long as it doesn't make you constipated.
You should not self-medicate IBS though, the best option is always to talk to your doctor. Maybe there are better options for you out there 😊
