Re: Afraid of Diarrhea or any bowel movement actually

Honestly, my bowels have been doing weird stuff since my teens, including what you've described. I've never had it investigated (medical phobia) but after 30 years I still haven't dropped dead.

I try to avoid taking meds for it, but if the diarrhoea or cramping ever gets too bad and I need to be somewhere, I'll occasionally take a single co-codamol - this maybe happens three times a year.

I know it sounds like the easiest thing in the world to say, but carry on working on getting your head into a better place? Try to get enough sleep, too - sleep deprivation is the one thing guaranteed to make my guts act up.

Thank you for replying Blue Iris, I really appreciate your comments and it does help to hear you have experienced similar things. On some level I know my anxiety must be unsettling my stomach and bowels, but these obsessive intrusive thoughts about it being something else are so hard to ignore.

I am getting a little more sleep since upping my amitriptyline to 15mg, but the waking hours are pretty torturous.

    Thanks again. xx

It's tough, isn't it? I used to live with constant suicidal ideation and it really wears you down.

Feel free to message me any time you want, okay?
