    Pain in the Bum, joy.

    Hey everyone,

Sorry for the long post but I’ve tried looking at some past posts on here about others with hemorrhoid issues. Thing is so many of them mention blood and I don’t have that problem, so decided to make my own post in hopes someone can help in any way.

For almost a month, I’ve had rectal discomfort/ pain. When it first started, I was like “oh no, not the hemorrhoids again.” I’ve never been actually diagnosed with internal piles, but the first time I felt them was after a rectal exam when I was having digestive issues about 10 years ago. Doc hadn’t said anything but I had discomfort up there until I used suppositories.

The Preparation H suppositories always worked. I don’t get this too often, but enough that it was my go to and didn’t worry. But they haven’t helped this time and that’s why I’m now getting my anxiety triggered.

Here’s some of my other symptoms:

Itchy (I have had external hemmies before but they haven’t flared in years, yet I do get itchy around the bum hole)
    Slight burning
Pain seems to be worse right before I have to have a bowel movement, probably the pressure. After I go it helps a bit but not completely.
While sometimes the pain does seem more centered at the bottom near the opening, it can get to the point where it’s up to my tailbone, which then feels bruised.

I went to the walk in today and they gave me a rectal exam and he said he didn’t feel anything but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I was prescribed Hydrocortisone suppositories (which of course I had to read the side effects of, ugh) and if they’re not better in a week to call a gastroenterologist.

I’m just worried. Annoyed that this hasn’t cleared up like it usually does. So now my brain goes down the worst roads. And I really don’t want this to linger anymore. Just trying to keep calm definitely takes a lot more effort when it should….. especially when I can’t sit normally!

So has anyone else had anything similar? Same pain or where one medication doesn’t work but a new one does? Anyone use Anusol before? I’ll obviously contact the doc in a week, but just hoping I can have a little faith until then.

I’ll just quickly add that it seems better at times. I can wake up in the morning and it’s better, but not 100% gone. Yet unfortunately as the day rolls on, it can feel worse. I still keep thinking hemorrhoids… just wish at the walk in today, I would’ve gotten a “Ohhh yeah, those are hemorrhoids!” from the doc.

    Hi

This is just a courtesy reply to let you know that your post was moved from its original place to a sub-forum that is more relevant to your issue.

This is nothing personal - it just enables us to keep posts about the same problems in the relevant forums so other members with any experience with the issues can find them more easily.

I don’t know, everyone. It still isn’t better. I started the Anusol suppositories Sunday and was hoping to notice a good difference by today. Lying down honestly doesn’t help. I’m sitting all wonky to not put full pressure on my bum. I will be ok for a bit but then the dread comes flowing back.
I hate when medical sites say internal hemorrhoids don’t usually hurt as much as outer…
I’m just getting nervous that I’ll have to see a specialist, won’t know when the appointment will be, what tests they’ll do (I’m terrified of any “-scopy”) and what they might find.
Has anyone had internal hemorrhoids that just won’t go away after a month? What finally helped?
I’m trying to tell myself it’s still piles…… but boy does this pain/discomfort just wear me down.

It could be absolutely nothing. I had a similar thing a while ago and posted here about, it was a discomfort and also almost felt like I had to go to the bathroom and sometimes light pain. I was on vacation and ruined my vacation. Eventually went to gastro and we did a colonoscopy (which he only did because of other issues not this one specifically) and nothing. He said I have internal hemmies but they are tiny and should not be causing any issues. And low and behold within a week gone and never had that discomfort yet.

But I do recommend going to the gastro, I doubt he or she will do an invasive test right away but good to speak to a professional and hey if you have to do something it won’t be that bad, I have had 2 colonoscopies and 2 endoscopies and really they are cake (and I am as much as a wuss as they come)

Thank you for replying. I’m definitely going to call a gastro tomorrow as it’s now been 5 weeks of non-stop discomfort/ pain. I try to be logical and stay calm, but when it’s your butt, it’s not easy to ignore it!
I wake up ok, I usually just feel an ever so slight numbness near my bum hole, but more on the cheek. Moving around seems to be ok but not for the whole day. It mostly feels like the tailbone honestly…. but then I do still feel the anus area too. It really is the worst sitting and then even laying down won’t help unless I fall asleep.
The only other thing I try to tell myself is that I had my physical 3 weeks before this started, and my blood results were fine in everything except cholesterol but that I already knew and am on meds for. If anything was starting, I would’ve hoped it would show…
I’m just tired of worrying, but hope I get some answers soon…
My grandmother always said “Don’t let your @$$ find out.” I look at her picture and say “It found out, grandma!”

When you say your tailbone area, can you describe the pain?

Can you check that area and around the butt crack area for any bumps, redness, swelling and does it feel hot? I ask this because I'm one of many men (woman get it too) that had a pilonidal abscess and it starts out like a bit of a pain, like you've stressed your back and it gradually gets worse to the point where you cannot sit, lay or walk and the pain gets unbearable and the infection needs antibiotics and then surgery, or at least lancing if needs be.
