Starting sertraline advice please

Hi lovely folks.

I was on citalopram 40mg for about 10 years and came of about 18 months ago. I've since had a relapse and the Dr suggested I try sertraline. Just looking for a bit of advice.

I'm really struggling right now but I've got a wedding and a holiday in the next 3 weeks so would it be better to start taking it after that to avoid the initial worsening of symptoms, or to just get on with it?

Also I've been prescribed 50mg, which I believe is the starting dose but would it be wise to break them in half and build up?

Any advice or experience of getting on them would be much appreciated.

Given my experience with it I'd wait until after the wedding and maybe start when you're on hols and relaxed.
My side effects lasted 6 weeks after I started.

Thanks for the advice. Can I ask what dose you started on?

I can't remember as it was so long ago.
I think I was on 25mg for a week then went up to 50mg.
I gained 16 KG in a short time without changing my diet so went back to Lexapro and the weight came back off and all is good.
