What medication do you take for GAD?

Hi, I'm being treated for GAD with CBT and amitriptyline. But the amitriptyline maybe for IBS symptoms and anxiety. What medication have you found most useful for GAD? I've been treated for social anxiety for years with Sertraline, but that makes me sweat alot.

I'm on paroxetine, although it works well for me and I have no desire to come off it, I probably would say to anyone thinking about taking it that it can be very difficult to come off.

I was on Citalopram for about 7 years, completely negated my anxiety.

I suffered tachyphylaxix (poop out, when it stops working), and now take Sertraline. That was fully effective for a year, but I'm in the throes of increasing the dose.

Hi apm, NHS have suggested Escitalopram I'm assuming it's Citalopram. If so did you get any side effects like sweating?

I've mainly been on Trazodone the past few years which helped a lot. Weaned myself off it a week ago and feeling no worse, but still taking a low dose of mirtazapine.

So I could be wrong, but I think those are two different medications. Escitalopram is "Lexapro" and Citalopram is "Cipralex". Possibly similar, I think escitalopram is the newer version (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I took Escitalopram for over a year and then moved onto Fluoxetine because my psychiatrist thought it would help with my weight gain. Both worked fine for my anxiety though I'm not currently taking either.
