    Anyone had a cataract operation??

As a lot of you will know my other half, Alex, recently had his first cataract removed and it went well but he is really struggling with a problem and needs some reassurance from anyone that has had theirs done.

When he looks straight forward he can see clearly but the side (to the left) is all blurred and it is worrying him that it will never get any better.

Can anyone reassure him please as the consultant told him to give it a few weeks but he is convinced it won't get better.

Can anyone offer any advice that actually knows what he is feeling?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nic and Alex,

Bert's Dad and Aunt both had this done. It does take time for this to clear up like Kazzie said.

I had the nerves shorted in both eyes due to lazy eyes, and it took alittle while for my vision to return to normal.

Just take it easy for now, and let it heal.

    Love,
    Tina

    Hi

I had both my eyes done. In the right eye I was nearly blind. During my agoraphobia I had to have the optician come to me. He said that I had damaged my eye and that there was nothing to be done about it.

About a year latter I managed to go in to town and and had my eyes tested. This optician told me that I had cataracts in both eyes.

It was not long before I had both of them done. After I came home from the hospital because I was nearly blind in the right eye everything seemed so bright (also could see the dust more, ha ha).

I did have problems, at first when looking sideways but rest assured that it eventually sorted it self out. I wish Alex well and tell him to try not to worry.

Many thanks for all of the replies its appreciated.

Sheena - I spoke to a Nurse at the hospital today and she told me that the blurring on the periphary of my vision was due to the new lens being smaller than the old one and that it would not clear up !!! I asked the nurse to get the Consultant to ring me so I can discuss it with him.
The center of my vision is fine and I am amazed at the colour I can now see (I thought our kitchen worksurfaces were brown!!!!!).

    Regards

    Alex
