Hello all. I’m currently writing this as I have covid lol, so it’s been a big week of anxiety for me.
Some background: I’m a 25 year old virgin. I am due for a Pap smear pretty soon, I got my last one at 22 and it hurt pretty badly. I was never called to talk about results. My gyno was pretty rude, it was just a whole thing and I was happy when she said I don’t have to do this again for three years.
Well three years later and I’m scheduling one again. This time with my family doctor because she is one of the nicest doctors I’ve ever met. I’m hoping she doesn’t hurt me this time, I’m worried they’re gonna find abnormal cells, I’m scared I’m going to have cervical cancer, though I’m not sure how possible that is when you’re a virgin?? I heard 99% of cervical cancer happens from hpv? But I’m not sure. It’s so hard to wait because I had to schedule this thing around my period so I can’t even see a doctor until after new years.
If anyone has any facts about cervical cancer/positive Pap smear experiences I’d love to hear it. I’m trying to be rational but my anxiety is making it hard.
