Yesterday there were articles about the Covid pandemic being blamed for the current child obesity epidemic. Yet I'm as sure as hell various other factors were being blamed for said epidemic yonks before Covid came along, such as kids lounging in front of the TV or playing video games day in day out, junk food, Paedogeddon, blah blah blah.

While I'm not in any way intentionally trivialising nor downplaying many of the effects of the recent pandemic, I do wonder if many of the journalists concerned must have short memory spans and have basically forgotten what life was like before the year 2020, and that general concerns about obesity actually predate then by a large stretch, and the pandemic is yet just another in a long line of 'scapegoats' for our society's problems.
