    Please help

Hello, i'm freaking out again. I'm on Fuerteventura, in my hotel there are mamy cats which are taken care of by the hotel. I petted one of them, forgot myself and touched my eye without washing my hands.. I'm wondering if I could catch rabies... I talked to a receptionist, he wasn't a good english speaker, couldn't understand my question about vaccine, but told me that these cats are safe to pet. But well, cats clean themselves with saliva. I read that on Canary Islands there is basically no rabies risk in terrestial animals, but maybe this cat had contact with a bat? Please help :(

You won't catch rabies so go and enjoy your holiday.

Actually, based on the OP's scenario? Not possible in any way, shape or form

You'll be fine, no risk whatsoever. You posted a while ago about not falling down the rabbit hole again, this is a good an opportunity as you will get to practice that as it is not even remotely a consideration.

You say you read there is basically no risk of it... So try stop there. Your anxiety will come up with crazy scenarios like a cat (or why not the receptionist?!) being bitten by a bat and that somehow then transferring to you, but you have to work at trying to ignore those thoughts. It takes hard work and a lot of time, and it won't always work, but it is worth the effort.

I know, it makes me even more sad that I came up with something so ridiculous, ruining my good days streak.

I spoke to the manager (Karen vibes) about the cats. They are vaccinated, spayed, Taken care of, even every one of them has a name! She said I can pet them, play with them, just have fun!

    Lack of logic and rationality.

    Hello!
I was on a 7day vacation on Fuerteventura. It was a small tourist town, filled with cats. All of them were friendly, I petted two of them. And suddenly my HA decided to attack - RABIES. At first I calmed down, as the first cat was a "hotel cat" -vaccinated etc. The second one probably wasn't from the hotel, but just a town cat. I have no idea whether vaccinated or not. So my fear came back, even larger.
Some facts - rabies is non existent on Canary Islands. I also know that petting a cat isn't an exposure. Cats vere extremely friendly, I observed it for a week, he was still nice and friendly when I was leaving yesterday. I know I'm not in any risk of rabies. But I cannot move past this fear. I'm so so so afraid, and I known doctor would treat this seriously, as I wasn't exposed.
How do I cope? I can't imagine living my life with this fear. It would be easier if I could observe the cat for the 10-14 days period as is advised with suspected animals.

I know you're worried about this, but this is the third thread you posted about this. That's not helping you. In your first thread from the 10th, everyone reassured you that there is no way you could have rabies.
Two more threads are not going to offer more reassurance, or make you believe it.

It absolutely wouldn't. There is zero risk of this, and you know it and even thinking of engaging in behaviours like that is your anxiety trying to pour petrol on the fire. You need to try work on this yourself and let logic win out.
