    Unhappy Laryngospasm

    Hi

A few weeks ago I cut a lot of ivy down and suspect spores got breathed in. I gained a VERY productive cough, but then as the cough and phlegm subsided I am getting Laryngospasms. When a small amount of phlegm touches the larynx it triggers the spasm. I've been to two walk-in centres. One gave me Prednisolone and the other Diazepam - both run out tomorrow and little change. I'm sipping water and trying to relax. Throat feels a bit sore and bit of ear ache. No wheezing, phlegm in clear, not breathless and no pain (just feeling bruised from when trying to regaining breath). Have found carrying water around and then taking a tiny sip at start of spasm seems to shorten it. GP offered a "review" next Monday and just put in another request as I can't go on like this. I'm exhausted physically and mentally, and my long standing HA is in full flow. One hospital GP said I wouldn't find my symptoms/trigger in a text book :-( so that made my mind go nuclear.

It is so bad that when I know a spasm is on the way I go into the front garden in case I pass out and someone might find/help me (I live alone).

    Best wishes

Taking a proactive approach by bringing water and trying to relax is a positive step, but the feelings of exhaustion and isolation are palpable. Sharing such experiences can also help others who may be experiencing similar issues feel understood and supported.
