    Holding in a sneeze- panic

Hi all, I was just in a bus and went to sneeze. I held it in just by closing my mouth and then googled ...now scared I've done damage. I didn't cover my nose and it happened so quickly it was spontaneous to close my mouth as it was busy. I'm so scared now....Google says it can do all sorts to your brain etc. I only felt discomfort for a few seconds. Would having the nose open she a positive thing.

I agree with BlueIris (hello, by the way - I haven’t posted on here for a long time but remember you!)

You cannot - and will not - have done any damage by holding in a sneeze. I do it multiple times a day (lifelong allergy sufferer)

Willous, this is the worst spiral I've seen you suffering from in many years. Seriously, this is beyond irrational. Please reach out to your doctor, therapist or mental health facility and seek real life help.

I've got a another GP appointment tomorrow and will speak to her about the effect on my mental health. It's having this weird feeling of vertigo for so long that elevated the anxiety.

Is your weird feeling of vertigo spinning, or feeling like you're on a boat? 'Cause I've had the on a boat feeling every day since February. If you search the forum, you'll see a lot of people have suffered from that at some point.
After a brain MRI that came back clear, I now have to accept it's just an over sensitized nervous system that is unable to pick up the correct moving signals and is giving me vertigo. The quicker you accept, the quicker it will pass

It's not spinning as such, it's more of a weird feeling. Kind of like being on a boat but just feel slightly off balance all the time and not right. Woosy odd feeling and some days feels like I am more off-balance, also quite tired! I did have days where it eased but now it's pretty constant. My GP does not want to send me for a brain scan but maybe I should see a ENT specialist? It's the head that just feels weird....

It's so hard to explain :( I have just got a manager position at work but am struggling so so much when it should be an exciting time.

I may try vertigon as have seen it online. I have tried everything else, even chinese medicine.

Yeah, that sounds like what I have. I have it when I sit down and very badly when I lie down, thankfully not when I'm walking around.
I'm being referred to an ENT now but I have already accepted this is anxiety. Honestly it was way worse in the beginning when I was worried about it, than now that I've accepted I just need to push through it. It's quite a common symptom of anxiety. Once your nervous system gets overloaded, it takes months to go back to normal after you've mentally recovered. So you mentally need to recover first and accept it's anxiety, and then let your nervous system heal

Yep! Thanks Sparkling. Mine is worse when I go into places that are light when I'm walking....but anxiety causes different symptoms for us all I suppose. It's just horrible waking up EVERY day like it aye. Faint feeling is the worst! I'm trying to accept it as it's been so long.
