Tips for Dentist check up tomorrow

Hi,

I’m very anxious about my check up tomorrow. I’ve had toothache and I’m scared the dentist will poke something metal in to get the old filling out and cause me sudden pain! Then if I have to have it refilled I’m scared of while they’re drilling they haven’t aneathetised it enough!
I’ve had a bad past experience where this happened when I had an abscess and I nearly ended up through the ceiling!

Is it just a check up tomorrow or actual treatment? If it’s just a check up they usually do just that, check what needs to be done and make another appointment.

In any case they won’t remove the old filling until you are fully numb and are there to have it replaced.

I have to have the ‘horse’ LA as my dentist calls it because the normal stuff doesnt work on me. I feel everything. Although if you’re normally ok with the LA you should be alright. I think it was because of the abscess, that it didn’t work on that one occasion.

Just tell them you’re nervous. They will understand.
