Gastritis and Heartburn

I'm getting so worried. I have reakky bad heartburn, epigastric pain, stomach burning. I went to a clinic 2 weeks ago and they said gastritis. Gave me nexium and have been on it for 2 weeks now. Symptoms are a little better, but I still get bad heartburn. I am on a very bland diet and afraid to eat. As a result, I feel like I'm losing wait. That is really worrying me as well. :( I am hungry all the time but afraid to eat. For those of you who have had gastritis, did you have bad heartburn with it?? Is that a symptom? Will the heartburn go away with the medication? I've been on it for 2 weeks, how long will it take to kick in? Have you lost weight during a flare up?? I have not had an endoscopy, I am so scared to have one done. I have never been put under before, I'm afraid of anesthesia and I'm so scared they will find something bad like cancer. I'm really struggling right now :(

it depends, some people see effects of the meds faster than others, hang in there. I bet the anxiety is not helping.

I am having some stuff going on in my stomach too, pain under left rib, back, bloated as hell, also have lost wait because afraid to eat and bloat up, it sucks. Going to the gastro on tuesday, of course I think its the worst possible thing ever. I did endoscopy and colonoscopy 2 years ago, its not that bad so if your symptoms don't go away then go get it done, its pretty safe and easy really. Of course always nervous but then its never that bad when I was don

Thank you so much. I'm hoping it will. I'm terrified of hospitals and doctors. I'm scared of what they will find. I see a very small improvement, but then yesterday I ate a raw spinach salad and the burning pains came on again. I too have lost wait because I'm afraid to eat. I'm starving all the time. thats interesting that you say that, I woke up feeling pretty decent and was like ok maybe on the mend then had lunch and had terrible bloating and indigestion.

Hopefully things improve for both of us!

Any updates on this? Currently having the same thing and too scared to get tests done. :( I did have an abdominal and pelvic last year along with blood work and a negative h pylori test. Everything was okay. Would love to connect with you as we are going through the same.
