Re: Health anxiety for Pets
Oh yeah, big time. I'm really good at projecting my health anxiety onto pets or other loved ones.
I know exactly what you are going through, as my dog had a cancerous mass removed about a month and a half ago and ever since I've been on edge, paranoid about any new lump or bump. And he's a senior cocker spaniel, so he's got plenty of warts and bumps, lol.
In my case, I've had to kind of talk some sense into myself and try to be as logical as possible. I made sure to draw firm boundaries about what kinds of medical interventions I would or would not pursue at this time in his life. I have a good vet who will refer out if needed and we are practically monitoring what I am concerned about. For everything else, it's just a matter of enjoying each day we do have together, taking lots of pictures, and making good memories. Knowing I have survived loss before and will again, when the time (unfortunately) comes.
And, meds. I went back on anxiety meds because I was really struggling and they have helped a lot.
I hope your puppy does well and that it's just a benign bump - keep in mind that most bumpsare benign and nothing to worry about.
