    Hi Pink Flower...
So glad your session went well and you feel much better.
Just hold on to what they have told you and what I said about thoughts are not reality, they have no importance....
Your equipping yourself with the right tools to eventually conquer this, don't try and rush things, it won't happen over night but your going in the right direction and if the demon does strike again don't add the fear and the what ifs, let the thoughts come, give them no special attention and let them go ....
Well done Pink, your doing really well xxx

    Hi Youwillneverwalkalone

Thankyou once again for your kind words. I really felt uplifted especially when she told me that intrusive thoughts are common and I can overcome this. The only downside is the waiting list for talking therapies which is around 6 months, however as long as I am equipped with the right coping strategies I am determined to beat this. It has taken over my life and has now outstayed its welcome as the saying goes.

    Hope you are okay YouWillNeverWalkAlone?

    Hi Pink Flower...
Absolutely the intrusive thoughts are very common and that's because your mentally fatigued as well as physically, especially if your not sleeping as well as you should or eating properly, but with the right treatment and attitude you can certainly get through this, you have already glimpsed that feeling today, hang on to that feeling, that is reality..Not the horrible thoughts....
6 months is a long time to wait but you've made a start, you know you are not mad or going mad....mad people don't know they're mad...your just confused, mixed up, tired and anxious but like I said, hang on to that uplifting feeling you had today cause there's plenty more of those to come, you can and will get through this, I promise.....

Yeah I'm not too bad thank you, like you I have my ups and downs but now I learned how not to react I cope a lot better.....xxxxx

Your support means a lot to me. You are positive and I suppose that comes with knowing how to treat this thing.

It is so hard to not focus on the thoughts when they are plaguing you every waking hour but like I have said I am determined to beat this. I have reached out for help and hopefully in time I will recover.

It’s good to know you are well and have good days too. 🌸

    Hi Pink....
Oh I'm far from positive but I do try, I've had anxiety a very long time and read a lot over the years, especially Claire Weeks and have tried to follow her teaching but it can be really hard at times....
I've been were you are on many occasions and have had some horrendous times but like you I vow it's never going to beat me....
Any time you want to chat give me a shout either here or via a PM, I'll always try and help you xxx

This is one of the reasons I came to NMP as it is all about what people are actually going through. The support you have given me I truly appreciate it. It was recommended to me when I had an assessment from the mental health team as i was trawling the internet and googling everything which made me think there was seriously something else wrong with me as a sane person would not have these kind of intrusive thoughts especially about a loved one.

I have ordered a couple of books from Amazon as well which are therapist recommended and the reviews are brilliant.

Yesterday I felt much more in control as the day went on but it’s the mornings I feel more anxious. It’s been 4 weeks since I have been on the higher dose of my meds, I just worry that it might not work as well as it has in the past as I have been on it long term and the effects of it may be wearing off. I also worry if my medication is changed I will have side effects and will it take another few months to work.

YoullNeverWalkAlone Thankyou for your positive posts which I come back to when I am feeling overwhelmed by it all. There is light at the end of the tunnel but at the moment the end of the tunnel is a long way away. Stay strong xx🌸

Oh god Pink googling is the worst thing you can do, it never gives you reassurance....
Aww your welcome, if I had a magic wand, I'd make us all better...
Sane people most certainly do have intrusive thoughts and about loved ones, then the guilt comes in for thinking such things, but like I said it's only because your mind is very tired with struggling, which is perfectly normal....
I understand the morning anxiety, I get that and when I'm going through a setback that's when it hits the worse and usually around 5 in the morning..
Give this new dose a chance to kick in properly....
Of course there's a light at the end of the tunnel, at the moment it may look small but it's there and day by day, week by week that light will get bigger and brighter , just keep remembering how good that feeling was when you had your therapy session, that's the sign of things to come xxx

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we had a magic wand and could just wave it to make people feel better?

Hope you are having a good day?

The morning anxiety is there most days in waking but I have been noticing it to be not as overpowering so maybe the meds are beginning to kick in. I am looking to go back to work this month after I have had an assessment with Occupational Health and how they can support me at work. I just need to try and get back to how/where I was before this demon took hold.

As always Thankyou for you’re ongoing support 🌸xx

Hi PinkFlower, I have many of the same concerns as you. I also have intrusive thoughts, although mine are a bit different as I don't get thoughts about causing harm, I get intrusive thoughts about ageing and death in general (for both myself and loved ones).

I have been on and off citalopram since 2012. I tried coming off last year, but suffered a relapse when I reduced to 5mg in November 2024. So in December I went back up to 10mg and then back to 20mg at the end of December. Although I feel better now than I did in December (which was awful!) I still have this constant feeling that something isn't right, and my sleep isn't completely back to normal. I'm really hoping that as it's only been 6 weeks since I increased to 20mg, that it still has time to kick in fully. It worked so well the previous times.

    Which medication are you on?

It is good thst you have ordered some books from Amazon. Which ones are they? I am also seeing a therapist and it is helpful.
