Unhappy Experiencing a sense of dizziness

    Hello Reader!

I am on lexapro 5mg. I am having strange sensations of dizziness. Example below, wondering does anyone else experience this?

When i am out and about with my girlfriend say walking in the city like i did two weeks ago i got this bad sense
of the world was going sideways or dizzy feelings. Sorry its kind of hard to explain!

I sometimes feel this sensation when in the house watching television, i get bouts of dizziness feelings.

Maybe i should switch meds? Would Mirtazipine be better i wonder

Anyways looking forward to seeing you reply to me!

Dizziness can be an antidepressant side-effect, but also an anxiety symptom. Given 5mg Lexapro (escitalopram) is a sub therapeutic dose for most I suspect it is driven by anxiety.

    Maybe i should switch meds?
The quickest and easiest path will likely be to increase the Lexapro dose to at least 10mg. It is not a good idea to take antidepressants at sub therapeutic doses for long periods of time, imo.

Would Mirtazipine be better i wonder
Despite what it says on the tin, mirtazapine (Remeron) is only a sedating antihistamine. Yes, it might work and work well, but it is the most poop-out prone med so it may only do so for a few months.

Thanks for getting back to me!

Unfortunately I cannot go any higher than 5mg Lexapro as my libido is non existent then.
My libido is okay at 5mg. But I do understand what you mean about it being a sub therapeutic dose.

Are you aware of any med that can help? Need a med that is therapeutic and doesn’t kill the libido
Maybe a low dose of Prozac 10mg?

    Hello panic down under

I read somewhere online that if you experience dizziness to take the medication at night time instead of in the morning time.

What are your thoughts on this?

10mg Prozac is also a sub therapeutic dose for most so it might be no better than Lexapro at 5mg.

This assumes the med is causing the dizziness, not anxiety, and that is debately, imo.

    Some of these might help:

Plus this: Libido...loss of although not all the meds listed may be available to you

I think that the dizziness/lightheadedness would be more anxiety-induced than as a result of the escitalopram. It's quite a common symptom but is benign.

I've been on 5mg for years, sub-optimal or not. For some, less is more beneficial.
