High resting heart rate for months now

Happy Sunday! As the title says, I have been suffering with a high resting heart rate for months now. I can have zero anxiety, laying on the couch, and suddenly feel my heart racing, chest pains and doom. I have been using a tracker on my phone and my resting rate is 115-130. It is obviously an uncomfortable feeling, and then jolts my anxiety which doesn’t help it come down. I have been to the ER 2 times this week, and then my doctor and cardiologist yesterday. They all say anxiety and stress but they are doing an ECHO in 2 weeks. All EKGs and troponin tests come back good. How is it possible that I can be resting and then have such a sudden high rate? My “normal” resting rate is around the 80s, so I always run on the higher side. I am 50, going through menopause (maybe that is what is contributing) but…I am also a smoker. I am not overweight but should be more active..but my fear of exercising and raising the heart rate is what stops me. Has anyone else experienced this? I wouldn’t be so worried if I was having a panic attack, but this is pretty consistent day after day. I have woken up the last 3 nights in the middle of the night with the same feeling. This is also a new experience for me. Ughhh

Anxiety is like a campfire. When you're in the midst of a spiral the fire is burning bright and hot. When the flames die down, there's still a bed of red hot coals burning away just waiting for some more fuel. You may not feel anxious but your body is still on high alert and has a bed of hot anxiety coals inside just waiting to flare up. Just like a campfire, the hot coals of anxiety take a long time to finally go out.

Wow, this resonates with me…and thank you! I can’t tell you how much it means to me to have you, THE Fishmanpa, celebrity of this helpful site, respond to my post. I will read, and reread this each time I feel like I want to drive to the ER. Thank you!
