I work in the veterinary field but itÂ’s not emergency medicine.. itÂ’s general practice like for check ups and vaccines. A lady brought a two year old dog in on 2/25 who was over due for a rabies vaccine for a year. I did the intake and told myself I knew was going to be anxious about that appointment afterwards. Nothing was wrong with the dog, she declined other vaccines because he doesnÂ’t really go outside and they just needed to update this rabies vaccine because his paws were really matted so he started licking the tops of his feet because he was uncomfortable.. like most small dogs he didnÂ’t like his feet touched so when he was trying to get away he scratched me. it was maybe a 3-5 cm scratch and It only drew a little bit of blood and it healed up very quickly.. I received a post- exposure series back in August of 2022 because I came in contact with a cat we werenÂ’t able to quarantine.. but I spoke with this owner on Saturday 3/15 to follow up and see if they were able to groom him (they were) and the dog was great just hyper cause he was a two year old puppy. I also have a lot on my plate and this is the fifth time iÂ’ve been freaked out about this disease. Just need a little reassurance that iÂ’m going to be fine and that I donÂ’t need abother post exposure round especially since the dog is fine almost threw weeks later
