Is it possible to get rabies from your yard?

Let my dog outside last night and there was a skunk smell outside. We didnt see it and the smell was kinda of faded like it was there a few hours ago. is possible for a rabid skunk to walk through the yard and my dog pick up rabies? Our dog is up to date on his rabies shot but I've heard the shot isn't 100% effective

Not unless he was bitten by the skunk, and you would definitely know if that happened.

I have had a dog that was sprayed by a skunk - if the smell is faded, the skunk is long gone. When the skunk feels threatened they will spray (so, if it had an altercation with your dog, he would have absolutely sprayed). And you would know without a doubt if you were in the vicinity of a skunk that just sprayed.

I hate that my head goes there. O know all the logical things to tell myself. The dog didn't bark( he always barks at anything outside) he wasn't outside long. He wasn't bitten. The skunk was probably mostly healthy since it was after dark. I just hate my thoughts go so dark so quickly and makes me afraid of my own dog. It's so depressing and makes me so sad that I deal with these intrusive thoughts
