    Eye twitching

    Hi everyone,

Reaching out to hear if anyone else has had this symptom of stress/anxiety. Since the first week of January (it's now April) my left upper eye has been twitching - not once or twice... Pretty much all day, with some pauses - but mostly twitching. For a couple of days recently I had it on the other eye... But today that has stopped. I have yet to go to the GP as I put it down to stress and have been trying not to let my anxiety kick off.

But I'm now over 3 months since it's started. I've tried cutting down caffeine and getting more sleep, but it doesn't seem to help. I'm having a fair bit of work related stress so hence why I've chalked it up to that. I'm a 43 year old woman, had my eyes tested and they're ok, but the opthalmologist could see my eye twitching.

Any thoughts? Has anyone had similar?

    Thanks!

    Re: Eye twitching

Hi, twitching is one of the symptoms that pops up quite a lot here. My right eye was twitching a lot last week as it happens. Then a few days later my lip. It didn't hurt or anything, it was just annoying and tickled a bit which I wasn't fond of haha

The NMP symptoms page has a section on twitching, the NHS page on twitching says it's usually nothing serious, and I think almost everybody here would agree that stress and anxiety are a common cause of it.

That being said, if it's bothering you that much or starting to concern you then I think a GP visit isn't unreasonable since you've given it a while and tried a few things to help it yourself. Though I bet a few of us would put money on the doctor not being concerned either.

Hi there I’ve also had eye twitching for a couple of months now on and off . It’s definitely worse with coffee and if I’m under immense stress which is every day as I’m battling anxiety on an extreme form.

It can be a sign of tiredness stress and vitamin deficiency

I've had sinus issues for about 3 weeks and my left under eyelid has been twitching since then. I've tried sinus rinse and nasal sprays, so for it continues.

Yes I’ve had eye twitching that lasted a year. Saw the eye doctor who said it is common and self resolving. Eventually it stopped. It returns occasionally. When I first had it, it was every single day for a year. It seems a common anxiety symptom.

I definitely get worse and ongoing twitching in my right eye when I’m anxious . The first time it happened that sent me into a rabbit hole but you know what , over time it went and I’ve learned that it’s nothing … if anything it’s an indicator I’m a little stressed or just starting some anxious moments . It’s not dangerous or harmful though so I’d relax and I’m sure it will go . I trust the U.K. NHS website and that’s not concerned
