Scared of going blind due to lack of sleep

Hi. Its been a while since I've been on here.

I came back because I recently been having trouble sleeping. I do eventually drop off but it takes longer for me to fall asleep due to my anxiety. And if that wasn't bad enough, when I looked up to see what I can do to help me with poor sleep, I came across an article that poor sleep can cause glaucoma, an eye disease that can cause blindness. Now I'm more anxious than ever! Please tell me I'm not at risk of this. I'm a 30 year old male btw.

I have never heard of this at all.

    You are fine.

I've never heard of this before, but I think it would be great to do some things that will help you fall asleep. Have you tried anything to calm your anxiety down? I find meditating while lying down really helps, I play a guided meditation video and close my eyes and I am almost instantly able to fall asleep. Another thing was buying a Kindle. I used to never read but I got a Kindle last year in September and so far this year alone I've read 7 books. I enjoy it because I can read at night with the lights off and it doesn't bother my eyes like a phone would or iPad. That has been a game changer! Maybe those things will help you, as well as ensuring to not use your phone for 30 mins before bed, etc. Hope that helps

    Never heard of this either!
That said, my dad had glaucoma. It happens more in older people. And you need to get it lasered. Like people no longer go blind from glaucoma unless you don't have access to medical care. The internet is such a shithole for people with health anxiety!

The problem is that, I keep trying to force myself to fall asleep. If I don't fall asleep faster, I get more anxious and the cycle repeats. :(
