    Black stools

    warning C

I recently had a FIT test that was negative. I had a colonoscopy 2 years ago also clear. But I keep having on and off black poo. I have ibs so have normal poo then diarrhea etc and it's been this really dark brown on and off which is what prompted my FIT test from the doctor. But yesterday and today I've been and it's black. Black diarrhea. Not the melena that the doctor said about just black. Why does it come and go? And now this? I'm on iron tablets one a day and have been for 2 years, I was found to be severely anemic had investigations and its because of my heavy periods. But this is different. Obviously my brain is thinking stomach or bowel cancer and I'm getting in abit of a state.

    Re: Black stools

I thought the iron tablets caused black stools anyway.

Maybe keep a food diary for a week or so and record stool colour so you can see if it is diet related.
