Hi all, long time lurker and life time health anxiety sufferer!
so last week I (f.43) found a breast lump, small and hard, size of a pea. I went to the doctor and was referred to the breast clinic for investigation. Now I actually wasnÂ’t over concerned. I had a large cyst a few years ago on the other breast and the biopsy actually made it disappear.
the surgeon examined me and told me that I also have a fibrous area on the other breast with multiple small cysts and he said that warranted being checked also. I regularly check my body for abnormalities so I was surprised but still not worried.
went for the mammogram and ultrasound and great news, the lump I went in for is not a concern at all. However, she sent me back for another mammogram as she was concerned by the other breast. She did an ultrasound in my arm pit and measured the area of concern.
after the second mammogram, she sent me away with an envelope and back to the surgeon, requesting that I get an mri and come back next Tuesday for a biopsy as they donÂ’t know what is there.
the surgeon said it had been graded a 3, meaning theyÂ’re not sure what it is, could even be fat necrosis. But I am now waiting for the mri and dealing with the most invasive thoughts. IÂ’m a bit of a mess right now, just looking for similar experiences.
