Thread: Hello everyone!

    Hello everyone!

    Hello everyone,

My name is Nickoilisx, but I am actually called Matthew when I am not online. However, I'd like to be called Nick while here, and I am 23 years old and an openly gay male who has had both good and bad experiences in the past. I've just discovered No More Panic, and thought that I would give it a try, as I've been bottling my emotions and experiences inside of me for quite a while until going through a rather traumatic experience recently, and I believe that communicating with others like me who understand me is the first step in recovering and may help me overcome and face my anxiety and panic disorders that I am currently going through at the moment.

After some traumatic past experiences involving needles, I have been suffering from panic disorders and anxiety, which have never been a problem for me before now. I thought it was just one occasion to begin with, but after some careful consideration, I have accepted that I have developed panic disorders and anxiety from these needle experiences. When I am in a situation that involves anything that represents this, I usually have anxiety, which prevents me from having them done successfully and being cancelled.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with those who will understand me, exploring the forums for more information, and chatting with like-minded people, while meeting many new people and forming friendships along the way, as they help me along the way to overcome and face my anxiety and panic disorders.

    Kind Regards,
    Nickoilisx

    Re: Hello everyone!

    Welcome to NMP; Nick.

I am also a 53 year old openly gay male.

I'm glad you found your way here ... as keeping things bottled up inside isn't good.

Could you elaborate what you mean when you write:

    "
which prevents me from having them done successfully and being cancelled." Does you anxiety and panic interfere with your job? I guess I've learned to accept anxiety and depression. I'm medicated but I find meditation to be very helpful - you could always check out youtube and see if the videos are helpful to you. A traumatic experience is hard to deal with and I know I've had my share.

Be well and please keep writing if that helps and feel free to create a new thread in a sub-form that you could express yourself and perhaps others here could offer some better answers than myself.

    Anyway,

See you around the forum and hang in there.

    Re: Hello everyone!

    Hello Salvatore,

Apologies for the confusion in my thread. I'd be more than happy to elaborate on that further. I’m currently unemployed as I’m planning to go back to College. However, I’m aware that some jobs require medical tests before working there, so I believe it would affect my ability to work in some way if I knew that there would be tests involving needles, which happen regularly, or after work-related accidents.

I believe that point about “which prevents me from having them done successfully and being cancelled” was about my experiences with needles right now, which feel worse than the one that triggered it in the first place, and most of my doctor appointments involving needles now end up being unsuccessful and cancelled, as I get too worked up in a state, so I'm not able to get treatment or be diagnosed.

I’ve tried mainly numbing creams, but they do not help me in any way, and I do not feel any less fear than I did before, which makes sense as numbing creams only stop the signals and not the fear and anxiety itself. I've been told that I can't be prescribed anything else without seeking professional help, which I have set in motion after a recent appointment with my doctor, where I have been referred to talking sessions, and I'll go from there.

    Kind regards,
    Nickoilisx
