Difficulty Breathing When Lying on My Sides

    Hi,

Extremely worried. This has been going on for many years where I can now only sleep on my back and now back hurts as I'm a natural side foetus position sleeper. It's the most comfortable for me.

Basically my issue is when lying down on my left or right side whether in bed at night or on the sofa watching TV I become breathless like my organs are being squashed.

I am really concerned about it now. I attempted going for an endoscopy about 3 years ago but my anxiety took me over and couldn't go through with it.

This is the biggest thing in my life making me go into a severe depression.

Afraid this is nefarious. Doesn't sound good and everywhere I search (mostly on other forums as google scares me) no one shares my experience which frightens me more!

    Anyone get this? :(

Re: Difficulty Breathing When Lying on My Sides

When my anxiety was off the scale, I went through a period where I couldn't tolerate lying on my side. I'm wondering now if it was a case of gravity and, being hypersensitive, that my brain interpreted this normal sensation (all our weight is going onto one side etc) as a 'threat' and triggered the symptoms of fight or flight that made me feel breathless..

Don't know if that makes sense or not?
