    Unhappy husband has meningitis

    hi all

i am in desperate state at the moment my husband has pneumococcal meningitis i am so close to him i am worried sick i am not going to get him back the same person before this.

He was taken to hosipital mon 17th dec put on a ventilater because he was so agitated taken of it after couple of days but never made any response not even opened eyes. He had to have ct scan to see if he had swelling on the brain but that was clear they have put him bac on ventilater, now he has to be referred to a neurologist because his eyes have dropped and i am really scared it has done permanent damage i want him bac the same person after this.

I feel so anxious about this thankfully i've had no panic attacks but palpatations have come bac with a vengence i am so so scared.

    Re: husband has meningitis

oh lin i am so so sorry this has happened to your husband ,
remember he is in very good hands and they will do the best they can for him, also its good that they are refering him to a neurologist because they are experts in that field and will help your husband alot.

I know its of no comfort to hear this, but i have known someone who has been thru this and he made a complete recovery , i am hoping this will be the case for your husband too , im sure it will , now you make sure you look after yourself because it sounds like you are under alot of strain with this too.

take care hun and i am thinking of you and your husband

    Re: husband has meningitis

    Hello lin

    Sending you big hugs.

I may understand a little of how you must be feeling at the moment. In the last week we have discovered that my hubby may have had a slight stroke and is suspectedly in the early stages of Parkinson's disease and it has come as quite a shock. He also has to see a neurologist and have a CT scan after Christmas.

I really don't know what to say other than if you want to chat then please PM or email me and maybe we could support each other?

This must be such a worrying time for you, but maybe you can take encouragement from the clear CT scan and knowing he is in good hands.

Lots of love to you xxx

I hope your husband recovers, my father had this 4 years ago, and spent 3 months in a coma before making a complete recovery, he is now 75 and just has an annual checkup.
