THIS IS WHAT I EMAILED THE MENTAL HEALTH TRUST TODAY

I received your letter today and i am slight disheartened with the last paragraph. As far as i was aware, when i had my appointment back last April, i was under the impression i was going to be put on the waiting list for individual CBT and it was only through MY doing that i have been looking around for other alternatives while the 18 months (i was told) came around. So, please correct me if i am wrong, but i am NOT on any waiting list and that CBT will be another two years? That means from going to the doctor in Aug 2006 to receiving treatment it will be 3 1/2 years?

What the hell have i been waiting for? Nothing!
It will be Jan/Feb 2010 before i get CBT.
I am crushed.

this is similar situation to my own if you read my thread"lLast chance Gone"
sorry you are going through this too, It seems as if depression or anxiety etc doesn't rate that high in the mental health system. Its truly awful that you have found out that you have so long to wait and it all being their own mistake. I wrote a letter of complaint because there is no CBT at all down here. Amongst other things. Am doing it myself.
However be careful, get in touch with PALS patient liason service, they seem to be very good

I called my doctor all distraught, crying like a baby and he said that he can see letters on my file from Nov. 2006 saying that i have been referred for CBT!

I have NO idea what all this is about.

Diabolical!!! you must get someone independent to find out for you as gp's rarely listen to their patients let alone inform them of important information

Your Doctor seems perturbed by this.
Have you thought about writing to your M.P.-with your Doctor's support-to see if he can kick up a fuss and speed up your treatment?

Have you thought of trying something else in the mean time? I know CBT's succes rate is roughly 80% but it doesnt work for everyone and maybe you will find something else in between the waiting. Try not to be too disheartened. Also, I agree with what chalky says - I would ask the GP for a letter insisting you need the CBT sooner and go to your MP. Just keep kicking up a fuss
