    IBS any tips on coping?????

    Hi All

Well doc has put my tummy probs down to stress induced IBS

I have read up about it and have buscopan tablets to stop the spasms and some painkillers but just wondered if anyone had any tips that may help???

I have lost my appetite thro it and the pain is something else

I was fine over the weekend it cleared up then come Tuesday another load of stress and bang its back!!!

Is it normal to just sleep and sleep when you have it or could this be the meds????

It says to eat little and often but do they mean you to eat when you are doubled up with cramps????

Living on water and pills atm

    Any help/advice would be welcome

    Luv Kaz x x x

Heya Kaz, I suffer from this also, but if you just eat when you can its better than nothing.

I sleep a lot too, I find the buscopans knock me for six sometimes.

I've had reflexology to help me with mine and it has worked, I do find I'm eating most of the time now, I still get the occasional flare up but I can eat things. I've also found that eating nothing for one day and eating normally the next day really doesn't help things. It just eases the problem for a couple of days and then makes it 10 times worse.

I avoid tea and coffee as much as I can cos they upset me, also high fibre stuff on a bad day.

You'll find your own coping technique soon hun by trying different things out

    hi kazzie...
    i too suffer from this...
i guess we are probably all different as to what our stomachs will tolerate...
for me it is dairy products that make it worse... i now drink my tea black sounds yuk but ive got used to it.
i was given buscopan but i couldnt get on with it so i dont bother now... i do not get sleepy with it so i guess that may be the meds.
but yes the slightest bit of stress and off it goes again...
the pain is inbelievable at times isnt it... i do drink alot of water when its bad.
and take alot of immodium !!!
the doctor said that this is fine to do so.
sorry ive not got any advice to give you but you are not alone

The trick is trying not to think about it as that will be a factor in triggering it, but I guess thats another thing I'm trying to master lol
