Intrusive Thoughts - Is Hypnotherapy Good?

Hi everybody,

I know some of you have posted threads on here before about intrusive thoughts of harming people. I was just wondering if anybody has overcome this and if you could give me some advice please.

There are many people on here who can relate to you. I havent had thoughts about hurting other people but I've had thoughts about people I love being hurt by others or by weird events. Its horrible isnt it.

I'm not sure where these thoughts come from - maybe they are the elements of self-doubt that we have within ourselves. We dont value ourselves and so we think we are capable of harming others maybe?

I have a self-esteem hypnosis CD which I need to start listening to more as it did make me feel better after I'd listened to it.

I cant see how hypnotherapy would do any harm hun. I also find it really relaxing and it leaves me feeling quite chilled so this may help you too

Hi Jo,

Many thanks for your post, i think i'll have a look into the Hynotherapy after all like you say, it cannot do me any harm.

Im hoping some more people may post any comments that have suffered with the same thoughts as i have to give me peace of mind on how to tackle this. I have got over this before so i know i can do it. The thoughts never totally go away but they are not as frequent as they are at the moment.

I suffer with very low confidence in myself, my bf always gives me confidence and tells me how beautiful and gorgeous i am but i just dont see it. Maybe my depression and ocd have something to do with that. Who knows!!

My b/f gives me compliments all the time too but they never sink in, its all the negative stuff that my mind absorbs!

I think my hypnotherapy CD was by Glenn Harrold. I got it off of Amazon after being recommended on here in case you wanted to take a look.

Thanks Jo,

I have enquired with a Hypnotherapist to see what it entails etc and they have asked me to call for a no obligation chat to discuss.

Im not sure if they would see me though with my intrusive thoughts, they may see me as a risk to them or to myself.

Good news on the hypnotherapy Shell

I doubt they would see you as a risk to yourself or others hun - that isnt what intrusive thoughts are about. They are just thoughts and the only harm they would do is to your mental wellbeing.

Be open and honest with them and you wont go wrong, I am sure they will be able to help you
