Hi, my GP didnt refer me several years ago when I asked as it was private and there was no NHS funding for it. That was a few yrs ago tho, maybe about 7rs.

No. I asked my GP but said I had to find one and pay myself.

Thanks for this thread, as I was just berating myself for making an appointment with a hypnotherapist, assuming this would never be available on the NHS, and I am desperate. I know it will be costly. Anything I do would always be the wrong decision, so I will make it anyway. I spoke to two, and one of them had already created rapport in a few seconds so I followed my instincts and went with that. Fingers crossed.

Re: Can you be referred for Hypnotherapy through your GP??

22 years ago I had hypnotherapy from a GP in winchester. Had 6 weekly sessions and improved from the first one. He was also training other h.therapists as I'd have them sit in on my sessions. so, while it used to be possible, I very much doubt that it is these days.
There is a series on alternative therapies starting this week, BBC2 I think, beginning with hypnotherapy. I'll check out the deatils and post later.
