Has anyone heard of Fear Fighter?

Hi all, someone recommended I try Fear Fighter to treat my anxiety and panic attacks, just wondering if anyone has used this package before?
Apparently its free to use on the NHS ...
Its suppose to be a computerised therapist or something ....

Not sure if it will work, I get really really hot and flustered at the strangest times ...

    Any comments would be welcomed

therapy is now delivered in all sorts of ways and its been tried and tested to work, so you dont have to wait for a 'real-life' therapist. i havent actually heard of it, but if its through the nhs then it will be good, what youd get anyway. have you been to nopanic? thats a charity that has self-help packages available and group phone support, alos the national phobics society has therapy over the phone or in manchester at discounted rates

yeah i've heard of it and read up on it. It sounds fab but you can only get it by your gp recommending it so i believe. Its good because it can be done at home.

I suppose the anxiety of worrying how silly you look with that thing clipped to your ears would take your mind off other worries!

Passsing an electric current through your brain? doesn't sound too good!

The other on-line thing looks interesting. Pity you need a GP referral.

Anybody tried "mood-gym" I have tried it and found it very effective for avoiding negative thinking etc.

Re: Has anyone heard of Fear Fighter?

    Hi

My GP recommended fear fighter to me last week, when I saw her as an emergency, as the waiting list for CBT on the NHS is over 12 months in my area. She was under the impression I would have to pay for it, and I may prefer to do that instead of waiting for the NHS route. She seemed very positive about it but suggested I wait for a couple of weeks before looking at the website for it, for my anxiety levels to drop ( I am in the acute part of panic and anxiety due to lump worry!!!!). I posted on the 'answer bank' but no one had any experience of it.

Hi all, and thanks very much for all your comments
I have recently been in touch with the company that supply Fear Fighter and they have given me loads of information !
They said it should be free if the Primary Care Trust I come under have purchased licences, which surprise surprise they havent (so I need to get onto them she said or pester my GP)
You can pay for it privately but it costs around £300, would much rather get it through my GP and not pay for it to be honest
If anyone is interested the company is called CCBT Ltd 0121 233 2873
