Anyone have trouble giving blood?

On Tuesday I went to the doctors to have some blood taken. I give blood regularly and have had blood taken for tests in the past with no problems.

However this time they had real trouble. She couldn't get anything from my right arm so tried my left arm. After a few digs and painful insertions, she managed to get some, but it was a struggle. I had drunk a pint of water and 2 cups of tea so I don't know why they had trouble?

Is this normal sometimes or do I now have something else to worry about

Yep - they have to lie me down and it takes ages to get the blood out of my arm. Also when I give blood they stopped me doing it coz I faint and the blood takes hours to get out!!!

I am a blood donor and have given 49 units BUT I had to have blood taken at the surgery last year and they couldn't get it out in the end they had to tell me to come back the next day. So don't worry you are not the only one.

Just was so amazed that they had trouble. Got a nice bruise developing now
