difference

hi does anyone know thw difference between a phychaitristand a phycotherapist, as im confused, as to who thet actually are

hi jane,
i think that the difference is that a psychiatrist can prescribe you medication, but a psychotherapist can't. a psychotherapist will act as a counsellor and discuss your issues with you etc but would refer you to a psychologist if he decided you needed meds.
i'm not 100% sure though!
