    associated with swallowing issues

My first feeling of a panic attack is the feeling of being unable to swallow....this is now something that makes sense to me after discovering that it is a common symptom of a panic attack. However, I get this feeling that my tongue is swollen and is numb. I feel afraid that I may swallow my tongue....even though I have researched and found that it is a myth that one can swallow their own tongue...but that is just the crazy thought that runs through my head. This feeling leads me to thoughts and fears of seizuring, which makes absolutely no sense at all because I have no medical history of it, nor does any of my family.

Does any of what I am describing happen to anyone else?

Hi Brynn - I had this problem for a long time - see my old thread here http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=16140

Its been gone for about a year now, and started to go gradually once I knew what it was, until one day I just stopped thinking about it. Not easy to do, I know, as I suffered this for about 18 months. I got some good advice above - worth having a look.

    Krakers.
