Success at last

I have managed at last to go to a Asda superstore yesterday and a Sainsburys one today with my wife. It has been about a year since I was able to go to these public places due to my agoraphobia. I had hardly any anxiety but a bit of dizziness. Car travel and public transport is my next goal. This success has spurred me on to try bus travel soon, I do go by car but do not enjoy it. I will not be defeated. Thanks for all of your support.

It is not an easy thing to do when you are suffering with agoraphobia, I know as I have been suffering for the past three years. You must be feeling over the moon with yourself. Like you I have real trouble travelling anywhere by car, I haven't tried public transport yet. The only way to cope with the anx/panic/agoraphobia is to do what you are doing, face it and don't run away from it.

I look forward to reading about your other successes.

Was it hot in ASDA?

I too have a goal relating to public transport. I used to travel alot and rely on public transport, the majority of the time. I get panicky on public transport and my goal is to travel for atleast an hour by train.

My panic attacks are less freaquent on buses and I used to have panic attacks in taxis but that seems less frequent too, these days.

I have a tip for you. Sit at the front of the bus. Then you don't feel you are sat with other passengers and you get fresh air from every time the door opens.

I find in Asda I stand with my hands on the freezer compartment when I get hot and panicky in there and if anyone stares - I stare back and smile - sod them - I have every right to feel panicky in a supermarket - and Im dealing with it - my way!!!!!!!!!! Wenjoy xx
