    will I wontI? I will

A couple of weeks ago I posted a message about a night out from work, i was desperate to go and you all sent me positive vibes, but i still didnt go, got out the door but that was it. Havent been out in months. A year actually,Socialising. This Sunday I have a christening and I have decided i am going. I have made all the backup plans if cannot cope when there etc but it is not if i can go it is when i go. I will go !it is time I got back into society, if I cant then I will never be happy, this site has helped me tremendously as has professional advice but I need to get out there soon please watch this space on Sunday and Monday all you supporters and thanks.

    Hi Alexis

Well done for making the decision to go to the christening. It is also good that you have back-ups plans in reserve if you find things difficult, but are determined to go no matter what.

I had to do this recently for my best friend's daughter's christening. I had decided that I would go to the christening service, even though I was really anxious about the number of people going but told my friend I might leave straight after rather than going to the party.

I did end up going to the party too and although I felt panicky and anxious during it, I made myself stay. I had to nip out to the toilets a couple of times to calm down but my friend was really pleased that I had gone at all.

You can do this Alexis and we are all behind you.

    Hi
Just keep thinking positive. I was given the idea of carrying something with you that belongs to some close to you. If I am going somewhere I haven't been before, I carry a small penknife that was my dads. (He died a long time ago) He used to use it in the garden. He was a very gentle person very easy going, nothing bothered him. If I start to feel anxious I slip my hand in my pocket hold the pen knife and smile to myself. I feel he is with me all the way with his calming influence.

It is just a thought if you want to give it a try.
    Best wishes for Sunday !!!

    Hi Alexis,
great to hear that you are going to the christening, you will be fine, have all your little back-ups with you, and try not to worry too much beforehand, as i think this is sometimes actually worse than the event, as you say you have thought it through and will be disappointed if you don't i had this last year, and to be honest i actually went out and enjoyed it!! By the way, forget about the night out from work, that was then, go for it and keep in touch.
