Literally took my first tablet about 5 minutes ago, I feel so nervous...I'm really not used to taking medication my boyfriend has been great, very supportive, and keeps on telling me he won't let anything happen to me, god I feel like such a wimp.

Hi
I started on citalopram last August.
I put off taking them for several weeks, cause the side effects listed
sounded worse than my symptoms.
I never look back on taking them and wish I had sought help earlier.
You might find for a couple of weeks there are some side effects on the other hand you might not.
Persist with them and you'll be fine.

Hi, I have just joined this site. I have been suffering panic disorder for about 8 years. It has been really hard to get through it. I have been taking Citalopram 20mg daily for about 4 years and I can honestly say that I feel less "anxious" when I am on it. I have not had any side effects at all. THe only thing which bothers me though, is that I will be on if for ages, as just when things start to get good, something happens which puts me back again. Has anyone else been on it for this length of time?
Well, day two and not feeling so bad, just a bit groggy and tired. Since last night my hands and feet have been really warm (the rest of me feels normal) which is unusual as they are usually a bit on the cold side.
I've just realised that my taking Citalopram has coincided with my period, well the week leading up to it, so I think I might have a hard time judging whether my mood has been affected by this or the medication. Mouth is still a bit dry but I hear that's quite a common side-effect, let's see what the day brings
