    terrified of burglary

My OCD behaviour is driving me crazy and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how I should deal with it. Has anyone suffered anything similar?

My student house was broken into about 6months ago, they smashed the back door down as the whole house was locked properly and lights were left on. I did not spend a single night in the house on my own after, and freaked out during the day while my flatmate worked. I have since moved but I am now obsessive over locking windows and doors. I need to check each one a minimum of three times before I can leave.

A few weeks ago I travelled 35mins back to the house as I hadn't checked one window three times. Needless to say detours of over an hour really are not convenient.

Upon returning, I get an overwhelming sense of panic in case we have been burgled again. This is driving me mad (and my boyfriend!), and I feel powerless to stop it. Does anyone have any tips?

aww hunny this is natural after a break in id be the same

the compulsion to check is something ive experienced too

i live in wales and once sent my hb back from n yorks to check the fire was off, even tho id checked. it was easier for him to check than live with me for the weekend on hol

the only thing i can suggest is that i only open certain windows, the rest are kept locked, then at least u have les to check, but i dont know whether that will satisfy ur worry

    take care

Are you sure he didn't just drive round the corner and spend a couple of hours in the pub, and pretended he'd gone all the way back?
