5HTP.. love it

Hi all,

been having trouble with panic attacks, emetophobia and claustrophobia (officially diagnosed and not agraphobia).
My doctor tried to put me back on Citlopram after a five month struggle to wean myself off them.... bad time but most rewarding to be off them.

I ordered some 5 HTP in powder form and I have started to take 100mg a day just before my evening snack.


Wow.. its amazing. I am sleeping better and my mind is clearer. Its so much better than my old AD treatment.

Why are they not prescribing this natural remedy instead of the chemical laden ADs? Money to the chemical companies probably.

I have that lovely cosy warm snuggled up feeling at the moment that I havent had in months.

Hope everyone who is taking this is having the same benefits.

I take 200 mg morn & eve...well i say that and i hvnt for a month & my anxiety is bad again.

But yes i agree its fantastic...America are using it a lot to replace the synthetic meds many of us get prescribed.

I too am so much better on it ....i bought some today so shall start them tmrw. So glad you think the same too xxx

I was looking at this, as it it half price in h&b at the moment only £5.00.

Think i might get some, any thing worth a try.

I take 50mg pill at bedtime and it konks me out and lifts my mood in the morning! Wenjoy x

Never take it with ADs as they are both doing the same job and its known to double to ad presence which is and could be a bad thing.

I buy mine through a supplier on ebay as I prefer the powdered form.. for the direct hit and because my stomach is not its best at the moment. Plus I can tweak the amount I take daily.

Feels good to find something natural even if it does come from an African plant.

I find it give quality sleep rather than more quantity that a AD does with me.

They do not do the same thing. AD's are serotonin-specific re-uptake inhibitors. 5HTP is a amino acid that converts to Sarotonin. One keeps it in place(Zoloft, Citalopram) and one makes it (Tryptophan,5HTP). You do need to be careful with combining both. You could end up with to much serotonin that will compete with other important neurotransmitters that regulate mood. You could end up with more anxiety or depression. Also with 5HTP you need to have cofactors for it to convert to Sarotonin. Vitamins and other nutrients.

I have had hellish side affects after taking just one anti d, I refuse to take them.
