    swollen ankles

    Hi all

Sorry to nag but does anyone else get swollen ankles.

Even though I'm overweight i have never really suffered from this. It has only been recently.

Periods have been all over the place aswell (sorry all u males) haven't actually bled for the last two months, but all the usual pmt symptoms have been there.

Is it because I may be coming close to bleeding.

I have totally convinced myself I now have a heart condition because of the swelling and that I am going to have a stroke.

Gosh, When will this mind thing stop.

Maybe you are just retaining water!!!

I would go see your Doc to overrule that!! And I dont think that it is heart related!

    Mandie,

Are you on any contraception that is overriding your periods, started any new medication ?

What sort of exercise have/ haven't you been doing ?

Can you get your shoes on/ do the ankles go down overnight ?

Sorry questions questions .. feel free to ignore them if you prefer

Hi all thanks for the comfort.

Meg would love to answer your questions.

    I am on no contraception

I haven't done any special excercise since my run on sunday but am on my feet a lot of the day.

Yes I can get my shoes on and it does go down after a little bit of rest. It just feels very uncomfortable.

    Hope u can help meg

    with love

It may just be pooling/ sluggish venous return as a result of having worked your circulatory vessels hard recently and not much movement between . Try several rounds of point and flexing your feet when you're standing to encourage it. Good to hear it reduces quickly - more unlikely to be cardiac . Blood pressure ok ?

Silly question maybe, but have you wafted a clear blue around a sample..

Relax and put your feet up.. literally It sounds like you have a job where you walk a lot, that can easily do it. Lifting your feet above the level of your heart will make it easier for your legs to return any fluid with the blood stream within half an hour or so. Maybe schedule some down time during the day for smaller sessions of this, say 5-10 minutes 3 times or so throughout the day?

If you are overly worried, maybe see your GP for your own peace of mind.

Sounds like water retention. Your lymph system maybe sluggish.

If your feet/ankles are sore then put them in cool water to reduce the sweling slightly, apply a mint based foot lotion right up to the knees (Tisserand do a fab brand) and maybe go and get a lymph drainage massage. Drink lots of 'clear fluid' like water, squash, apple juice - NOT orange juice - as this helps to flush the toxins out. As much as it is sore to walk, do more exercise and flex your ankle joints, wrists joints, fingers (other common arteas to get water retention).

    Hope the hints help!!

I apologise. Especilly to Vernon that I had not acknowledged replies to my question LOL.

The sweeling has gone now and yes I did waft a clear blue stick arround just in case.

It must be just water as you all said. This hot weathers not helping. Never happy r we LOL

    Thanx again
