Drinking on Diazepam.

I'm on 1mg Diazepam per day and as it's coming up to Christmas I wondered if it would be OK to have the occasional alcoholic drink ?
I don't mean an all out binge but just the usual glass of wine with a meal and maybe a small whisky in the evening.

Hi Decca, I would say that to have the few drinks that you mentioned while taking 1mg diazipam/valium will be fine. If anything it will just make you more relaxed given that its a tranquiliser! I think its only if the drinking is a permenant thing on top of the meds that trouble would result.

1 mg is a very very low dose. If you do drink, just be aware that alcohol is a depressant, so mind you don't feel to low after.

Just be aware that taking lorazepam with alcohol will make you feel more sedated. You should be okay with a glass of wine though.

I drink and take 5mg diaz when needed

Find its cool as long as you leave 6 hrs between the pill and the drink!!!!

Once had a pill and a drink at same time .........made me feel ill

i find diazepam and alcohol a great cocktail.
alcohol alone never seems to make me relaxed properly-still always bodily tense.but if i throw in a 10mg im fine.

also if i know im going out on a bender i will take maybes 15mg of valium as it has anti con (sickness properties)!! so i find i can drink quite steadily and keep up with the others!...that in mind im not a total whino who is on the piss every weekend--so the fact im not a regular at the pub when i do go i know i wont be a lightweight

Sorry to drag this thread up but i'm very confused now.

I've been told that mixing alcohol with diazepam can be fatal !

I've got a big event coming up next weekend that'll mean me being out for around 10 hours. I don't usually drink but would love to have 4 or 5 bottled beers and a few shots or vodka as i normally do on these quarterly get togethers but i'm taking 2 mg tablets of diazepam 3 or 4 times a day so i'm petrified of having even 1 beer incase i end up in hospital.

I wish i could stop taking the diazepam but that'll just put me on edge and prone to panic attacks in front of my friends so i was going to stay sober all night.

I don't know what to think now.
