    I've done so much !

You will be pleased to know that since I posted last my Husband Steve has been keeping me very very busy.[}]

I've been in bath and shower on my own. Actually got the nerve to start going to bed and turn off the light! (I have to admit I do wear headphones and listen to late night talk radio to keep me distracted until I fall asleep.) Been in the car 4 times, shopping 4 times, been out for walks with Steve and by myself (even if it is just to the end of the road) I've even been brave enough to play on the computer and go with Steve to collect the children from school. [8D]

A great improvement from 3 weeks ago, when I was too scared too get off the sofa and wash the dishes!

My next targets are to go and have my haircut and to telephone a taxi to take me to and from school to get the children, while Steve collects my Mum from the train station.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year - and also to thank everyone for the help and support they have given me over the last few difficult months.

I wish everyone positive and happy thoughts for the coming year

Wishing you love, light and hugs

    Liz and Steve xxx

    Hi Liz

    Well done.

Like Meg says take it slowly. Don't push yourself too much and then feel like a failure when it goes wrong, just relish each thing that you achieve.

I bet Steve is over the moon too isn't he?

We have had so many great success posts today that it is great to read about it.

Perhaps Xmas is the time of year for a lot of you to get better and go out and do stuff.

    Happy Christmas to you too!

    xx

I feel really silly now cos I have only just worked out who you are lol. I read and replied to all of Steve's posts and never noticed that you had taken over and started posting for yourself. It was only when you mentioned Steve that I realised!!

You are doing so well cos we wondered if we would ever see you on here.

Great news and what an achievement

Say hi to Steve from me :-)

    Hi Liz

I remember reading your story when your husband steve came on this site and I remmeber thinking how much what you were experiencing i did too. I was so frightened of going to the loo myself or for a shower etc too but gradually through the help and support from my husband i too gained confidence and gradually started to conquer some of my fears.

I feel so happy for you because it brings back so many memeories to me. You truly have coped so well and will continue to cope well because you have started the road to recovery. We are all here when you need us.

    Take care of yourself.

meryy xmas and happy new year to you and your family.

Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement
Steve sends you all his love.
I've never seen him look so happy for ages. At One point he started to cry.
My children looked so pleased when I collected them from school.
I even put some more Christmas lights, and to think 3 weeks ago I didn't even want to look at a tree let alone cope with Christmas.

I think I'm starting to come to terms with my panic disorder and learning to deal with it rather than think about it and be miserable.

The worst thing I can do is take to my sofa and dwell on it.
Washing the dishes or going for a walk is a big step and something to be proud of.

I know now that panic is a law unto itself and the best thing to do is breathe deeply, try to remain calm, remember that although it feels nasty and it scares me, it is not going to kill me and the feelings will pass. And the more I do things the less scary they will become and one day I will be doing things my own. I may shake like a jelly and feel sick when I'm out in public or in the car, but it won't always be this way.
And if things get really bad I can always take medication to help me through the difficult times. It's not going to go away over night, but with time, a bit of bravery I can beat it. Taking medication to help me is nothing to be ashamed of, because it is helping me get control of my life.

Once again thank you all for your well wishes and remember that the smallest step is a great achievement.

That's it Liz , you've got it exactly. Bingo !!

Just keep at it - daily - and do not let a minor set back send you running back to the sofa !!
