    Brain Tumor? Help

    Hello

I am new here, and hope someone can help as I feel like I'm going crazy. I've had headaches for the last 2 weeks or so, and now I'm getting pains in my neck. Today my neck went numb! I've been to the doctor now twice, and he has told me both times that there is nothing to worry about, he looked in my eyes and did some other tests (including BP which was all fine) and believes I have tension headaches and muscular contractions happening. However, he has ordered some blood tests to be sure.

I'm really terrified that I could have a brain tumor - the pain in my forehead and eyes is scaring me, and now the neck pain. I'm trying to be realistic (a few years ago I was CONVINCED I was dying from a heart attack), and everyone keeps telling me I'd be really ill if I had a tumor, but I've seen loads of stuff on the internet about brain tumors, and I really think I have one.

I hope someone can help as I am terrified I'm going to die.

Your doctor looked in your eyes because one of the first and best signs of a brain tumour is that your optic nerves would be swollen, a condition called Papilledema,it`s one of the major first signs they look out for.
Also in alot of cases your blood pressure would be affected but he said it was fine.
Your doctor would have sent you immediately to hospital IF he saw this in your eyes(I know as I had it)they would then do a CT scan.

I think your doctor is right about them being tension headaches.
By the way I didn`t have a brain tumour but have a condition called Idiopathic Intercranial Hypertension so headaches are my specialist subject(lol).
Still doesn`t stop me from thinking that the doctors might have missed a tumour though!

I'm dealing with a similar thing right now. I won't get into my own symptoms because this isn't my thread, but I have slowly learned that we should always trust the real doctors and not doctor google. I still have brain tumors fears on a fairly regular basis, but you really have to put things into perspective. These doctors are trained for many many years and have years of practice, I am sure they know what they are doing when it comes to serious issues such as brain tumors. It doesn't make it any easier, but put your trust in your doctors, they are much more qualified than the internet to diagnose your symptoms. I hope you start feeling better!

Thank you to everyone who responsed - this all sounds very sensible and I will try to follow your advice as best I can. I just wish it would all go away because I really do keep getting myself into a state which I know is probably making everything much worse!

I am sure that everything is OK.

Please do not assume that every brain tumour is a death sentence.

Brain Tumours very rarely present themselves as headaches as the brain is insensitive to pain.

Have you been to see an optician lately? I've always had bad eyes but since having health anxiety, i've been getting migraines and pains in and behind my eyes, as well as having the heavy head feeling from time to time (at one point it was constant and it's horrible!). today i went for my usual yearly eye test and i mentioned the pains etc and she was able to do tests like to check my blood vessels behind my eyes and the pressure. she said all was fine which has definitely put my mind at ease, maybe you could go and ask for the same?!
