heart skipping a beat since stopping the citalopram

ok i have not taking 2 doses of citalopram following the advice of my doctor.
today i am having palpitations and my heart keeps pounding at random intervals. I do have anxiety and had a major panic attack yesterday but the palpitations are making me really scared so its a really vicious cycle.
has anyone else suffered palpitations with citalopram or is it something i should be concerned about im feeling rather lightheaded maybe i will pass out.

Have you cut it down slowly or just stopped?

just stopped will be getting something different tomorrow from the docs.

Oh not a good idea - naughty doctor, he should know better!

You will get all sorts of side-effects doing that.

How long were you on it?

about 4 weeks so not too long.

They say that you should come off it slowly to reduce the side effects but I guess he decided to ignore that lol

Hopefully you won't feel too bad for too long.

What are you taking next and is there a reason you stopped this one?

im not sure what im taking next i will find out tomorrow. he stopped the citalopram as he said something along the lines that my body was actually fighting against the citalopram i was feeling very low and my insomnia had increased to a level where i was often doing 24 hr days. I was a wreck at the docs last night. I will let you know what he prescribes me next.

I was on citalopram for about 3 months but was making me feel worse as well , i made a decision to just stop taking it and suffered heart palpatations (they were so bad at one point my wife phoned nhs direct who sent an ambulance) .I have learnt to cope with the anxiety (just about ) and i have been subscribed lorazapan to take when i start feeling panicky . not a perfect solution but feel a little better rather than worse like i did on citalipram! hope this makes sense its my first post??

thanks cuff666 yes thanks it does make sense to me, the palpitations are worse today and i feel like i could pass out i am extremely tired today my appointment is this evening so hopefully the doc will put my mind at rest.
