    hi sara,

i managed to stop smoking, its been more than 3 years now. from what i can remember i was really determined at the time and i did use a patch for the first couple of days. i do know a few people who've been successful using hypnosis as well.

I think Alan Carr's book, as Meg mentioned as well as others, is the best starting point.

I know that some will disagree and say they read the book and still smoke. Hey, I read the book and I still smoke! But, whichever way you look at it, or whichever way you approach it, giving up smoking is going to be difficult if you've done it for any length of time.

What I did find, is that Alan Carr explains the psychological factors very well. Which in my mind are the most important issues to address. I can say that after reading it I now feel more prepared for when the time comes that I do decide to give up.

    Good luck

Try having a look on Amazon.co.uk Sarah-J, I'm sure there will be one available somewhere and they usually have a good collection.

It is only a small book though, so if you decide to buy it, then it isn't the most difficult book to get through and from what I remember I think it was fairly easy to read too.
