Hi Crissy, I've heard the escitalopram has less side effects, but you would need to speak to your doctor about changing to escitalopram. Is it possible that the 30mg is too high for you? Maybe 25mg might be better? Talk to your doctor before making any decisions. If the cit is working and you've been on it for a few months you may be better to change your existing dose before trying another medication.

Hi PsychoPoet, only recently discovered this site and 3 days ago i started taking citalopram. I fell terrible at the moment, am having loads of palpitations, heightened anxiety and can only sleep for a few hrs and when i wake i have to keep moving my legs about which is really werid - its as if they almost ache? Anyway your post has encouraged me to stick with the med as i really need to get my life under control after many years of problems. thanks again. xx

Bloody hell Poet, you've added quite a lot here since I last read it! This thread should be up for an award... PyschoPoet OBE...

Well done for all your effort - you must have spent days on all this.

It's also applicable to other SSRIs IMO, so it could even be called SSRI Survival Guide - but I think citalopram sounds better and is the most common one anyway...

Cheers everyone Please let others know about the survival guide, I've been told that some search engines are showing it but I can't find it on Google. Also Anxiety UK have supposedly got an eye on this thread

More updates to come. It's been a year so far and the Guide is still going strong.

Been an absolute godsend to me, especially in the beginning when the meds made me feel much worse, without this thread I doubt I would have managed. Well done, and thanks a million :-)
