Completely fed up with my constant upset stomach :(

    Hi guys,

Im just wondering if a) anyone else suffers the same as me, and b) if you think I should see my GP again!

ok.. I'll try and explain.. Ive recently been given the all clear for thyroid problems. I had a goitre and needed to get it checked out with a scan, I initially pointed this lump out to him back in Dec/Jan this yr, and I got my scan results last wk - all ok. I need to see the specialist to discuss things (Im sure he'll just reiterate whats already been said to me etc).

    That was this yrs 'thing'...

Last yrs was trying to find out what my stomach pains were! I had blood tests, an x ray, an ultrasound and an upper endoscopy.. all came back ok and in the end I got told the usual - its anxiety related .

My stomach hasnt got better since last yr, and sometimes it feels worse if anything!

    I get:
    • the daily feeling of an upset stomach
    • last month I was eatting for England.. this month (been going on for 3weeks or so) I have zero appetite.
    • Nausea on an almost daily basis
    • Fatigue and lethargy
    • For the last 4 days Ive looked about 4 months pregnant.. for a wk prior to that the nausea was more prominant and I felt a bit gassy
    • I get a burning sensation in my tummy. I always get even more burning after fizzy drinks, which is a bit worrying.. thats even after a tiny glass, like a shot glass size!!
    • I burp alot!
    • recently Ive been getting cramps too, that are relieved by pooping.. I get awful cramps sometimes, I also get hot and dizzy with them too
    • another weird one.. and sorry if tmi.. but its kinda hard to poop, and not in a constipated way, just like the poo is too soft to push out!? (cant believe I wrote that for all to see!)
    • I feel better/less nauseated on an empty stomach.. (but then you get the hunger/sickness feeling.. and/or not eatting properly only makes my fatigue and lethargy worse!)
    • My stomach always sounds gurgly (sp) too! - yuck!
Im wondering if its IBS, or even celiac disease?? It just feels as though perhaps food is just fermenting in there and thats why I feel a bit gassy and have an upset tummy feeling?? The gp gave me omeprazole last yr when he suspected an ulcer, he said keep taking them if it makes me feel better.. but its still not thet great an improvement (plus I dont take them daily as I dont know what they will do long term).

Sometimes I feel like I should just shut up and accept its all anxiety.. but Ive felt ok recently and yet I still have this upset stomach. And to be frank Im fed up of feeling so nauseaous and struggling to know what to eat and what will agree with me, which tbh isnt alot right now!

..I also know my gp will think 'what now....'

    Help!

    Hi Liz!

Im kinda glad Im not on my own.. although its a miserable place to be right now!

Do you have any ideas what yours could be down to, do you just think its anxiety?

..Mine seems to come and go as it pleases with no explanation at all! I think its one food, I cut it out, and then I reintroduce that food and Im fine.. I have no clue!!

    Anyone else?

    Hi,

This sounds like IBS to me, because I went through the same exact thing last year. I had 15 dr.'s appointments, a sigmoidoscopy, loads of blood tests, and then a gastroenterologist finally diagnosed me with IBS. As soon as I was finally diagnosed, my symptoms went away! They only come back if I'm really anxious. I would definitely suggest getting checked out. They can test for celiac or vitamin deficiencies quite easily, and you'll feel so much better once you know what's going on. You might also have a gastric reflux problem, which can be controlled with medicine.

    Good luck,and feel better

I know how you feel. I could copy and paste your symptoms a month ago, but it's better now. It's anxiety related. It sucks, but you just have to wait it out sometimes. Try Yogurt, it helps a lot. Also, stay away from Pepto, I found it made me worse. I had Nausea so bad I would dry heave for so reason. Eating helps. I know it make you feel sick to think about food, but once you put it in your mouth, you realize how hungry you are. Try eating something you really like. Treat yourself and spoil yourself for a day.

IBS hun. I have it, its a bloody nightmare! Go see your GP & tell them how unhappy you are. It took me ages before I got a referal to the hospital for a colonsopy so someone could confirm it was IBS & start giving me treatment. Also what I did when I first started with it was keep a food diary & would write down everything I ate & how my stomach felt that day & what my poo was like (gross I know!) and a pain rating out of 10. It really helped me but unfortunatly my IBS is caused by worry but I did find that cutting down on certain foods helped. IBS is a pain in the backside (no pun intended) cos it affects diff people in diff way & they is no one set cure.

PM me anytime you like hun. xxx

About a week or so ago, I had thos symptoms constantly for what was 10 days by the time they ended. The burping was absolutely rediculous...it was like there was an air pump in there...I also looked at least 3-4 months pregnant...the left side of my stomach was always gurgling, and the only times my symptoms would go away was when I was empty stomached...but then I would get this nagging weird feeling in there as if my stomach was in knots..I also had no appetite and eating something as little as a cracker had me burping and bloated.. I was also passing a ton of gas.

Cooincidently, I had two panic attacks before those symptoms began and went through a ton of anxiety before them. I think you're fine. You have anxiety.

Re: Completely fed up with my constant upset stomach :(

Hey! I know this was posted like 3 years ago, but I must thank you for it. I have been struggling with the identical symptom for nearly a year, with no known cause. I have had an ultrasound and have yet to hear back from the doctor. I finally have a doctors appointment on Monday. I am really hoping that they can figure it out because my life has basically ended because of it.

I have been a shut in for the last 6 months because of these symptoms. When I do venture out, I have to take a pharmacy with me in my bag, which includes...Gravol, Pepto, Tums, Gas-X, Gaviscon, and Zantac. Recently added to that is Immodium and Ex-lax.

Basically, my stomach only feels somewhat normal when it is empty. But, after not eating for so long, I just feel worse. I get so hungry at times that I am gagging. So I eat to relieve said discomforts, only to be slapped in the face with an upset, gassy, bubbly stomach. To make matters worse, I have an extreme fear of vomiting, so, with my belly always feeling this way, I tend to consume a lot of Gravol (which I don't think is good for me). I take Gravol so often, that if I take 4 pills, it doesn't even make me tired. When I first started taking it, it would knock me out for 8 hours straight.

This is a horrible way to live and I need results. If I am not constipated, I have the opposite and spend the night on the can. If I am hungry I feel decent, for a while...then I eat and feel like shit for the rest of the day (that is until I get hungry again.)

I should mention, one doctor said he was pretty sure I had a peptic ulcer and gave me Nexium which I took for 3 months...it seemed to help....but not nearly enough. Then, I had to wait 4 months to get into get my ultrasound to check for gallbladder disease. I will get those results on Monday but I feel as though all will come back fine. I also recently ended up in the ER due to severe lower abdominal pain on my right side, exactly in the appendicitis area. They admitted me overnight and gave me an xray and a blue dye catscan...turns out, it was not appendicitis, but just swollen lymphnodes. They weren't even bad enough to give me antibiotics.

Anyway, this is getting long, so I must just say thank you again! I am curious as to if anything got figured out? I think I have IBS or have developed a severe food allergy (I recently had a DQ Blizzard and was up all night with the poops, wasn't pleasant)

I hope someone still reads these posts! Could use some imput
