Could this be IBS

OK this is not a panic, but wonder whether I should mention this to my Dr.

I have had it on and off for years as long as I can remember.

Every now and then at least perhap 3 times a month my stomcah will bloat up until I look about 4 months pregnant and then pain is excrutiating. It can last for over an hour sometimes I can't stand and it definately gets worse when I bend over or scrunch my tummy up.

It begins to clear when I start to get wind and after a good long farting session it settles down.

It often occurs after lunch especially if I lie down.

Does this sound like IBS?

Definitely. I get episodes of this too and the thing that works for me is colpermin (think thats right name) It is horrible though and the pain can be quite bad. a hot water bottle on your tummy eases it too. Also peppermint tea is good.

I have always wondered you know, but it never seems to happen near to the time I go to my Drs and when I am at my Drs I am normally panicky about cancer that I never remember it. Funny that I have never panicked that this one was cancer.

Anyway as a result I have never asked him and I must do really, because I could really do with something to relieve it when it happens

colpermin is brilliant for it. i always have it in the house for when i get an attack of it. the doctor also might prescribe buscopan but colpermin does the same thing and you get it in any chemist without having to go to docs. also inside is a wee leaflet which tells you about the spasms you are having etc. thats what it is, a spasm in your bowel.
