    Stomach and breath

    please help!! again!!

    over the past three days i have had a swollen stomach and it feels uncomfortable. it feels like its hard in my upper abdomin. Today i started to feel a bit panicky and now im short of breath. is this some kind of ibs symtpom? do you get breathless with ibs? could it be life threatening? shall i call nhs direct?

    Hi Carl,

    This sounds an awful lot like IBS. That is exactly where the docs press if they think you might have it. It certianly isn't life threatening, if I were you I'd go and get somne bran flakes, flapjack and dried prunes. Have a bowl of bran flakes every morning, this will stop it long term, and eat the prunes when you need to and have the flapjack now because it will make you happier because of the sugar and the oats will help!

    As for the shortness of breath and nausea, I get them with my IBS too, although they can also be because you are panicking and worrying more than usual.
